The Art of Social Media Recruiting - Catherine Ann Clayton

The Art of Social Media Recruiting

Yesterday I talked a lot about coaching and I asked one of my clients how she was doing on promoting her business.  She told me that her upline encouraged her to post on Facebook on her personal page about 3 times a day.

So I asked...

How's that working from you?

Her reply...

It's not.

I've been posting about my business and products for months, with my referral link to the company website, and nothing so far.

I had a feeling that is what she was going to say.

This strategy is no different than passing out flyers at the mall and pinning up “pull tabs” posters at the airport or restaurant stalls or putting things on windshields.

I used to do that 15-20 years ago.

And it’s as effective as telling my 12 & 13 year old children to clean their rooms without close monitoring.  HAHA

However. It doesn’t mean that recruiting and promoting on different types of social media doesn’t work.

Because it does, when it is done the correct way.

I have always had an entrepreneurial spirit. I taught school for 21 years during which time I started my family late in life. I left education for the corporate world where I started climbing the corporate ladder rather quickly. Soon I realized I was making my boss look "great" while I was doing all the work and losing time with my family because of the long hours. I jumped ship and began my own company so that I could work from home and get time back. Soon I realized I needed multiple sources of income to sustain my lifestyle. I was introduced to direct selling from a friend of mine. I now inspire and collaborate with others to grow their direct selling businesses and enjoy life on their terms while continuing growing my own.
